New Delhi/New York: Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, addressing the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), described India as Bhutan’s “trusted friend”, highlighting the close relationship between the two neighbouring countries.
Tobgay also referred to Bhutan’s ambitious Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) project and said it has received support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of Assam.
The Gelephu Mindfulness City is being developed as a new economic and urban centre in southern Bhutan, with a focus on attracting business, tourism, investment and employment opportunities.
The Bhutanese Prime Minister’s remarks at the UNGA underscored the importance of India-Bhutan cooperation in supporting Bhutan’s development priorities and regional connectivity.
